The dashboard is nothing but a collection of gadgets which provides you information at a glance. So the main advantage you get from the dashboard is that you don’t need to navigate through different pages to get your required information.
Arrange Your WordPress Dashboard According to Your Choice
When you access your WordPress admin panel, you will see the Dashboard at first.To configure your required information that you want to see on your WordPress Dashboard, simply press the Screen Options button.
You will find the Screen Options button in the top-right side of your screen. After clicking this Screen Options button a panel will be expanded that will let you to check and uncheck the various information blocks. You can keep them visible or hidden them according to your choice.
Once you have the gadgets that you want to keep visible, you can rearrange them by simply drag and dropping around your screen.
Note that as WordPress version 4.0 your admin panel is responsive, i.e. depending on your display size you will see a different number of available columns for your widgets.
Some plugins provide additional dashboard gadgets to use.
For instance, if you have a Woo Commerce based store, you can put on view things such as your recent orders, monthly sales graph and so forth on your dashboard. You can keep them shown or hidden from the Screen Options panel.
